Indian boffins develop $10 laptop
Scientists at the Indian Institute of Science and Indian Institute of Technology Madras have developed a $10 laptop, and plan to showcase it next week.
The laptop will go on display at the launch of the National Mission Education through Information and Communication Technology in Tirupati on Tuesday. We still don't know the specs, but as it cost less than a decent lunch, if it has a screen and keyboard, it will be more than enough.
India's Higher Education Secretary, RP Agrawal claims the laptop actually costs $20, but the price will drop to $10 when mass production kicks in.
Along with the dirt cheap laptop, several interesting high tech educational concepts are to be launched under the initiative.
